Purpose of the Project
- Identify current trends in the use of electronic organizers to address cognitive disability. These include personal data assistants (PDAs), Pocket PCs, handheld computers, pagers, cell phones, and portable voice organizers.
- Conduct usage trials of electronic organizers with persons with cognitive disability and disseminate the findings.
Project Outcomes
As part of this project we will create and conduct the following:
- Survey consumers and caregives on the potential uses of electronic organizers
- Create a web catalog of electronic organizers
- Conduct usage trials of electronic organizers
- Create tip cards and how to manuals for ease of use
- Downloadable PDFs of accessibility guidelines brochure for consumers and for manufacturers.
- Conduct a webcast to disseminate findings from the study
- Hold a Technology Transfer Conference for stakeholders on the State of the Science
- Publish White papers as dissemination tools
- Conduct research on web accessibility tool specifically geared to cognitive disabilities
The project specifically addresses adults with traumatic brain injury and adults and children with intellectual disabilities.
